An independent non-profit foundation

The Coffeeshop Quality Mark is managed by Stichting CVIP (Cannabis Sales and Information Point). The foundation has no commercial interest in issuing certificates and is operationally separate from the certification itself.

Mission & vision

Stichting CVIP's mission is to promote transparency, quality and professionalism within the coffeeshop sector. Through an independent certification system, the foundation gives coffeeshops the opportunity to demonstrably meet the requirements of the Sector Standard — and thereby win the trust of municipalities, banks and other stakeholders.

The vision is a sector in which every coffeeshop has transparent, verifiable operations that contribute to countering undermining crime and safeguarding safety within municipalities.

Three separate roles

  • Stichting CVIP — independent management of the quality mark and guidance for operators through the certification process. No commercial interest.
  • Central College of Experts (CCvD) — an independent advisory body that sets the substantive norms and oversees the quality of the audits.
  • External certification body — carries out the actual audits and issues the certificate. The holder of the quality mark does not assess itself.

Added value for municipalities

Mayors of municipalities with coffeeshops face a dilemma: responsible for coffeeshop policy and for safeguarding safety and countering undermining crime. The quality mark gives municipalities the assurance that certified coffeeshops demonstrably meet the requirements of the Sector Standard — independently checked and verifiable.
